도시는 주로 인간의 활동과 기억을 중심으로 해석되어 왔다. 성수와 서울숲 또한 트렌드, 소비, 여가, 산업의 시간아라는 인간의 언어로 설명된다. 그러나 이러한 해석은 도시를 구성하는 또 다른 존재들의 경험을 충분히 드러내지 못한다.

비인간의 관점에서 서울은 이미지가 아니라 조건의 집합이다. 아스팔트 사이, 도로의 경계, 관리되지 않은 틈은 척박하지만 끊임없이 반복되는 환경이며, 식물들은 그 속에서 잘리고, 밟히고, 다시 자라며 자리를 만들어왔다.

본 프로젝트는 인간 중심의 서울 해석에서 벗어나, 도시의 주변부에서 관찰된 비인간의 적응 방식을 서울을 읽는 또 다른 기준으로 제안하는 과정이다.

Cities have largely been interpreted through the lens of human activity and memory. Seongsu and Seoul Forest are no exception — they are described in human terms: trends, consumption, leisure, and industrial history. Yet such interpretations fail to fully reveal the experiences of the other beings that make up the city.

From a non-human perspective, Seoul is not an image but a collection of conditions. The cracks between asphalt, the edges of roads, the unmanaged gaps — these are harsh yet endlessly recurring environments, and plants have carved out their place within them, cut back, trampled, and growing again.

This project is a process of stepping away from a human-centered reading of Seoul, and proposing the adaptive strategies of non-human beings — observed at the margins of the city — as an alternative framework for understanding Seoul.
